PASSAGE IN SICILY
KAAT was born as a result of a business trip in India in the Rajastan region where two friends, architects, draw inspiration by visiting fascinating places and immersing themselves in the discovery of raw materials such as stones and woods and the subsequent craftsmanship performed manually and with scarce family means poor with local artisans.
Hence KAAT which means cutting-engraving-juxtaposition and union between different materials.
From that trip and from that work experience the path has evolved, which has led the Sicilian architect Michele Cucchiara to bet on his territory of origin "La Sicilia" and on the local craftsmen of the "Marmorari e Ebanisti" that still today the art of the trade is handed down from generation to generation.
To these and with these KAAT turns to produce objects aimed at the contemporary world, starting from this millenary island, evocative of intangible stories and at the same time painfully physical, which today tells a modernity made of round trips; of people who must leave and others who decide to return, bringing with them experiences and enthusiasms to share. Stories like that of the creator of KAAT, which in the TAVOLA line combines sought-after materials of Italian origin and partly from local quarries.
Soft and modern lines, defined by an artisan mastery that forges every single object to make it unique and unchanging over time. KAAT welcomes you to the new Sicily, where quality, tradition and modernity become design.
